The new service I hope to offer will be more reliable. The darn constant
updates to Windows that requires a reboot or to the firewall security center
requiring a reboot means I might lose mail.

I wouldn't worry about that. All sending SMTP servers should retry on a
failed connection, so at most the mail would be delayed. Plus, a reboot
shouldn't take more than a minute or so anyhow.

True, but I got carried away with the instructions set forth by R Process.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, depends on how you look at it, I set it up so
that only I can restart it. I didn't follow all of his suggestions for
security, (shorter latency)  but most. Everything is heavily password
protected.

On a reboot, only I can restart it. Problems come in because I use a USB KVM
switch to switch between the primary computer and the server. When a reboot of
the server is required, it plays heck with the USB KVN switch. Don't know why,
but it doesn't want to let me access the server. I have to plug in a spare
keyboard and mouse and switch the flat panel manually. Do a reboot, shut
everything down and do a total restart. A real P in the neck.

I have to travel with my work. So I can be out of town for a few days. I set
all the updates to wait until I return and manually install them. Still, it
seems to me, if I shut down Mercury for just a few minutes, I lose mail.

The retry swchedules for most SMTP servers lasts for a week!

I never use a keyboard/mouse/screen on my server. Use VNC (over
an SSH tunnel if you must have the best security).

Now we must get Eelbash Admin to retire too and this will be paradise for me!

Eelbash must not retire! He is the single most entertaining person in
here although he doesn't intend to be.

I read apas once a week and get great amusement out of reading
Eelbash's silly ideas for censoring (sorry I mean "stopping the
psychos"). I also enjoy reading his sock puppets where he tries to
pretend he's someone else that just happens to think and talk exactly
like him.

He is my internet soap opera. Eelbash must stay.

Wonderful entertainment that bloke.
